What is Qigong?
Qigong (pronounced "chee-GONG") is an ancient Chinese energy healing practice dating back 5,000+ years. It involves cultivating and harnessing the life force energy called "qi" to help achieve balance physically, emotionally and spiritually.
qi 气 : energy, air, breath, vitality, universal force of life
gong 功 : work, use, practice, transform, cultivate, refine
It's the study of the flow of energy in our body and in nature. Qigong cultivates self-healing, mindfulness, and a deep connection with universal energy, promoting resilience and harmonious living.
How Does Qigong Work?
We have 12 major energy channels (meridians) in our physical body, which connect to our internal organs along with front and back energy channels, which govern all 12 channels. When energy is blocked or stagnant, it may cause discomfort and manifest in the form of pain or illness with associated organs and other parts of the body. A regular Qigong practice helps you maintain a balance between the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems, which helps the body function optimally.
Qigong harnesses vital energy ("qi") within the body through gentle movements, breath control, visualization and focused intention. Balancing the flow of energy restores overall well-being, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual imbalances.
